Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 6, 2026
In short: RowLens works entirely on your computer. It doesn't collect or sell your data, and your databases never leave your machine. The only thing it ever sends is your Pro license key, to check that it's valid.
Who we are
RowLens is an independent extension for Visual Studio Code, operated by the RowLens developer from Costa Rica. RowLens is not affiliated with Microsoft or SQLite.
The extension
RowLens opens the SQLite databases you choose. Everything it reads from them is processed on your computer and never sent anywhere. It contains no analytics, tracking, telemetry or advertising code.
- Snapshots are full copies of a database, including everything in it. RowLens makes one before each Save and each query that writes, unless the file is over 1 GB, and when you ask it to. They are kept in VS Code's storage on your computer, not in your project, for up to 30 days. You can delete them from the Snapshots panel at any time.
- Working copies: the Change Recorder and Compare work on temporary copies in your system's temporary folder, and RowLens deletes them when you close the result or the editor.
- Pro uses: to count the free uses, RowLens keeps today's count in VS Code's storage. File and table names are stored only as hashes.
- Your license key is kept in your system's secret store, through VS Code.
License checks for Pro
If you enter a Pro license key, RowLens sends it to Lemon Squeezy, our payment provider, to confirm the key is valid. It repeats this check about once a day. The request contains the license key, an activation ID, and a label with the date and the name of your editor, such as "Visual Studio Code", so you can tell your activations apart. It contains nothing about your databases. Without a key, RowLens makes no network requests.
Purchases
Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record for RowLens Pro. When you buy Pro, Lemon Squeezy collects your name, email address, billing country and payment details to process the payment, calculate taxes and send your receipt and license key. We receive your name, email address and order details so we can provide support and refunds. We never see your full card details. Lemon Squeezy's handling of your data is described in its privacy policy.
This website
This website uses no cookies, analytics or trackers. It is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard request information such as IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, as described in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
